Summer seems to be the busiest season for party planning. Parties for every occasion like weddings, birthdays, holidays, graduations, and just plain old let’s get together and have a party! Since it’s summer and the idea is to spend time out in the sun enjoying the great weather here are some really cool party themes you can set for your next party.
1. Margaritaville Party
Who doesn’t love a good margarita? You can base this party theme around the Jimmy Buffet’s song Margaritaville. This theme can definitely be on a budget, get some decorations from your local party store, add a photo booth, and have finger foods.
Make some sweet treats according to the theme, like these margarita cookies which would be fun for everyone. Don’t forget about the margaritas. Be creative and not just serve the usual strawberry margaritas, make a large batch of rum tropical punch which would serve a great number of guests.
If you plan to make this party for the whole family, make a kid-friendly mocktail of ocean water and add gummy fishes to replicate the ocean life.
2. Beach Party
Following along with the Margaritaville party, you can simply have a beach party at the beach if possible, or in the backyard. Make it fun with lots of beach balls, seashells, fisherman’s net, and surfboards.
If your backyard allows, you can bring in the sand and build a volleyball area, a horseshoe area, and even have a slip and slide if you don’t have a pool.
Or depending on if you live near a beach, rent out a beach house and have the party on the beach. Keep the food easy and make sure it can withstand heat since this will be of course outside. So burgers are a great option and keep your guests cool with icy fruity drinks like mermaid lemonade.
The ideas for this theme are endless and you can DIY decorations yourself or pick up inexpensive ones at the local party store or online.
3. Spanish Style Fiesta Party
This party will be full of color and great music. Add a rainbow ruffled tablecloth and make sombrero-shaped cookies to go with the theme. Have some fresh guacamole and salsa, be creative and serve it in margarita glasses.
You can also have a piñata and serve any type of drink with tequila. For dinner, you can have fajitas. If you pre-make most of the ingredients, everyone can make their own how they like them.
4. Flamingo Water-Themed Party
This theme is really great for kids. Everything should be about flamingos. Add fun games like flamingo ring toss, pin the beak on the flamingo, hook a flamingo which you can do with a small pool of water.
Following the idea with water, you can have a slip and slide, small baby pool or even a big inflatable pool.
Obviously, the recurring color will be pink and there and if pink is your favorite color, this should be lots of fun! Keep your guests cool with virgin pink pina coladas.
5. Superhero Party
Also another great theme for a kids party. You can use any of your child’s favorite Marvel character or any other like Power Rangers. Have the party guests dress up as their favorite superhero, and then serve food that’s easy to prepare and serve.
6. Sports-Themed Party
Since it’s summer, great ideas for this theme party can be baseball, NASCAR, tennis, soccer, or football. There are other themes or course but base this theme on the month of summer that you are planning this.
Each person can dress in their team colors which will make for a funny conversation on who’s team is best. Put some ribs and chicken on the grill along with vegetables great for grilling like asparagus, and corn.
You can DIY your own concession stand with finger snacks and make this a centerpiece of the party.
