I always look for easy new recipes for my son’s toddler meals. Healthy toddler meal ideas are essential since he is a very picky eater.
I once was able to get him to try just about anything, but now if it doesn’t look familiar to him, he won’t try.
So I try to be creative with some dishes that I make for him, some turn out great, and some not so much.
When prepping meals for picky toddlers, having the right tools and containers can make a big difference in both presentation and mealtime ease.
Tools & Containers
Muffin Tins: For your “Muffin Tin Meatloaves” and “Egg Muffins.”
Toddler Plates/Utensils: Sectioned plates (suction plates) that keep food from touching (a must for picky eaters).
Small Cookie Cutters: To turn veggies or sandwiches into fun shapes.
Here are some of the best recipes for toddler meals, I have found on Pinterest. A few I have tried along with a few new ones that are on my to-do list.
All these have simple ingredients and are easy to prepare.
BREAKFAST
Meal #1: Banana-Egg Oatmeal Pancakes.
They’re quick to make, easy for little ones to eat, and pack good nutrition:
- Mash 1 ripe banana
- Mix with 1 beaten egg
- Add 1/4 cup quick oats
- Optional: a dash of cinnamon
Cook small pancakes in a pan with a little butter or oil, about 2 minutes per side. They’ll be soft and easy for toddlers to handle.
Serve with:
- A few berries on the side
- A small glass of milk
- Optional: tiny drizzle of maple syrup
This breakfast:
- Takes about 10 minutes in total
- Uses ingredients you likely have
- Provides protein, healthy fats, and carbs
- Is easy for toddlers to feed themselves

💡 Pro Tip: Conquer the “No” with Kitchen Help! 👩🍳
If your toddler is going through a phase where they refuse everything on their plate, try bringing them into the kitchen!
Research shows that toddlers are significantly more likely to taste a meal if they helped “make” it. Even something as simple as dumping the oats into the bowl for your pancakes or stirring the cheese into the cauliflower nuggets gives them a sense of ownership.
If you want to make this even easier, I highly recommend checking out Raddish Kids. They create monthly cooking kits designed specifically to get kids excited about food through hands-on fun. It turns mealtime into an activity rather than a battle!
🥕 Food for Thought: When they are the “chef,” they’re much more curious to try the results!
